# Set up

> Connect Rasu AI to Claude Code, Claude Desktop, ChatGPT or Codex, or paste one prompt that does it for you.

## Connect your AI app

Pick the app you use. You'll approve Rasu AI once in your browser, and you won't need an API key.

### Claude Code

1. Run this in your terminal. --scope user makes it available in every project.

   ```
   claude mcp add --transport http rasu https://api.rasu.ai/mcp --scope user
   ```
2. Start Claude Code, type /mcp, pick rasu and choose Authenticate.
3. Approve Rasu AI in the browser window that opens. You are connected.
4. Paste this into Claude Code to make your first call.

   ```
   Using Rasu AI, list my projects. If I have none, create one called First Light and tell me what you set up.
   ```

### Claude Desktop

Works the same on claude.ai. The free plan allows one custom connector.

On a phone, open claude.ai in your browser to add it. The Claude app cannot add connectors, but shows yours once added.

[Open Claude connectors](https://claude.ai/settings/connectors?modal=add-custom-connector). Paste the name and URL into the dialog it opens.

1. Copy the Rasu AI server URL.

   ```
   https://api.rasu.ai/mcp
   ```
2. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors and click Add custom connector.
3. Name it rasu, paste the URL, and click Add.
4. Click Connect on the new connector.
5. Approve Rasu AI in the browser window that opens. You are connected.
6. Paste this into Claude Desktop to make your first call.

   ```
   Using Rasu AI, list my projects. If I have none, create one called First Light and tell me what you set up.
   ```

### ChatGPT

Needs a Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu plan, on the web.

On a phone, open chatgpt.com in your browser for these steps. The ChatGPT app cannot add one.

1. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Security and login and turn on Developer mode.
2. Open Plugins and click the + button to create a developer-mode app.
3. Name it rasu, paste the server URL, and set Authentication to OAuth.

   ```
   https://api.rasu.ai/mcp
   ```
4. Click Create, then Connect.
5. Approve Rasu AI in the browser window that opens. You are connected.
6. Paste this into ChatGPT to make your first call.

   ```
   Using Rasu AI, list my projects. If I have none, create one called First Light and tell me what you set up.
   ```

### Codex

The Codex CLI, IDE extension and app share one config file.

1. Add Rasu AI to your Codex config.

   ~/.codex/config.toml:

   ```
   [mcp_servers.rasu]
   url = "https://api.rasu.ai/mcp"
   ```
2. Sign in from your terminal.

   ```
   codex mcp login rasu
   ```
3. Approve Rasu AI in the browser window that opens. You are connected.
4. Restart Codex, then type /mcp to check Rasu AI is listed.
5. Paste this into Codex to make your first call.

   ```
   Using Rasu AI, list my projects. If I have none, create one called First Light and tell me what you set up.
   ```

### Copy a prompt

Paste this into an agent that can run commands, such as Claude Code.

```
Connect Rasu AI and install the Rasu AI skill. If you're in Claude Code, run `claude mcp add --transport http rasu https://api.rasu.ai/mcp --scope user`, then `claude plugin marketplace add rasu-ai/rasu-skills`, then `claude plugin install rasu@rasu-ai`. If you're in another agent, add a remote MCP server named rasu with the URL https://api.rasu.ai/mcp (Streamable HTTP, no API key), then run `npx skills add rasu-ai/rasu-skills --skill rasu` and select your agent. Use one installation method. When Rasu AI asks you to sign in, tell me to approve it in the browser window that opens. You can read the skill directly at https://github.com/rasu-ai/rasu-skills/blob/main/skills/rasu/SKILL.md (raw: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/rasu-ai/rasu-skills/main/skills/rasu/SKILL.md). Then use the Rasu AI skill whenever we work with Rasu AI. Once Rasu AI's tools are available to you (if you need a restart or a reload first, tell me exactly what to do), do this: Using Rasu AI, list my projects. If I have none, create one called First Light and tell me what you set up.
```

The [agent skill page](https://docs.dev.rasu.ai/setup/agent-skill) lists the commands it runs and what the Rasu AI skill teaches your app.

## Check it worked

* Rasu AI is listed in your AI app's connectors, or in its MCP servers.
* The starter prompt, the last step above, answers with your projects, or makes you one called First Light.

## Common problems

* **The sign-in window didn't open.** Start the sign-in again from your app's connector or MCP list, and allow pop-ups from your app if your browser blocked one.
* **Your app lists Rasu AI but never uses it.** Name it in your message ("Using Rasu AI, …"), and check Rasu AI is turned on for this chat.
* **You're on a phone.** Most phone apps can't add a connector. Add it from the app's website in your phone's browser, and it shows up in the phone app afterwards.
* **Your agent isn't using the skill.** Paste the prompt from the Copy a prompt tab, or install the skill by hand from [the agent skill page](/setup/agent-skill).
